History of Diamonds

Diamond as we know is the hardest substance in this world.It is used in making jwelleries and many more things.It has also its history.The word diamond is derived from greek.But was first found in India 6000 years ago near the rivers Pennar,Krishna,Godavari.Diamonds have been treasured as gemstones in India for its religion icons.Diamond has a windgap of 225 nm meaning that pure diamond should transmit visible light and look like a clearless crystal.Diamonds can be identified by their high thermal conductivity.The formation of natural diamond requires exposure of carbon bearing materials at the temperature of 900-1300 C.This condition can be found only at two places.In lithospheric mantle and meteriote strike.Diamonds are very shiny and have took place in our everyday life.
