Rural
1.More than 50% of India's population live in villages.
2. Villagers are superstitious.
3. Villagers are backward .
Urban
1. People in cities are spoilt,lazy and cunning.
2. People in cities are money minded.
3. City people cannot be trusted.
Some of the statements see villagers as dirty.superstitious and ignorant and see people living in cities as lazy,cunning and money minded.When our opinions about certain people are always negative,seeing them as lazt or stingy then these become prejudices from us about them.Prejudice maens to judge other people negatively or see them as inferior without any reason.
Here are some statements.Which of them do you think is correct for boys and for girls?
They are well behaved.
They are soft spoken and gentle.
They are naughty.
They don't cry.
They are rowdy.
Some of us may think the statement ''They don't cry'' is for boys. From the beginning boys are said not to cry so boys get stuck to this statement.This is a statement we here constantly and accept without thinking and we start beiliving that each one of us must behave accordingly.Thus we fit boys and girls seperately.When we fix people into one image then we create a stereotype.
