Century plant formely known as Agave and maguey is from plantae kingdom.It's lifespan is of 28 years but sometimes it can also survive for 100 years.This plant instantly die after flowering but after dieing produces it's suckers or adventitious roots which continue it's growth.It is also known as american aloe,althoughit is in a different family from the true aloes.If the flower stem is cut without flowering,a sweet liquid called agua miel gathers in the heart of the plant.The leaves also yeid fibres,known as pita,are suitable for making rope matting,coarse cloth and embroidery on leather.The nectar of this plant is also taken as a healthful sugar product.
